LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY AUGUST 2006
SPORTVISION UK Chair 2006-2009
CRUCIBLE, SHEFFIELD SEPTEMBER 2006
English Open Squash Championships. Gavin Rebello organises and screens some of the top 20 world seeds on the squash circuit, including 5 x champion, Peter Nicol. "The purpose of the screening was to learn more about the visual systems of elite squash athletes; how quickly their eye muscles and focussing systems work, strength and flexibility of the systems, and the effect of glare”
We can now use this information for amateur club and youth players to make sure their visual systems are the best they can possibly be and fine tune them to meet the demands of squash. Vision directly affects: Depth perception, timing, peripheral vision (racquet to ball), trajectory prediction, balance.
LONDON/DUBLIN DECEMBER 2005
Gavin Rebello achieves 1st prize in the UK and IRELAND sports-vision diploma class 2005. Passing with distinction, Gavin was pleased that his dissertation on glare sensitivity and management was so well received by the examiners.
