RUGBY GOUGING HITS HEADLINES

The gouging of Irish Lions player Luke Fitzgerald by South African flanker, Schalk Burger, has created a media furore. Although South African coach, Peter de Villiers, has dismissed calls to tackle eye gouging in the game, Sports Vision experts have claimed that the incident could have caused retinal detachment, or localised corneal abrasion and subsequent infection.
